Book Review: Try Me by Diane Alberts

Try Me by Diane Alberts
(Take a Chance #1)

Synopsis:
What happens in Vegas…can lead to romance.

It took one wild night for Sergeant Jeremy Addison to realize that Vegas? Was a bad idea.

Bloody. Bruised. Dehydrated. Abandoned in the desert, and left to stagger down the road. The only way this leave could get worse was if his savior was his ex-best friend’s sister…and the girl he’d loved since childhood.

The last person Erica expected to find on the roadside was her high school crush. She hadn't seen Jeremy in seven years—ever since the night he said he loved her, and she ran away. Losing him then had been a mistake, but wanting him now could be catastrophic if he discovered the secret that chased every other man from her life. But with a tall, tattooed Marine determined to prove he’s always been faithful, can Erica resist his advances…or will she surrender ground and give love a try?

My Thoughts:
This one was a short one. So few pages and so much story to tell. I discovered this one in listopia-land. It had a lot of great reviews, so obviously I had to read it. And I love short stories, it makes me feel like I read a lot in a short amount of time. I'm weird, I know :)

I was glad that we got some back story between the 3 characters because it just starts out and we really don't know what's going on. There really was a lot of sexual tension between Erica and Jeremy, and I kept waiting for them to do something about it...

Overall it was a good story. I wish it was a bit longer and had them doing more stuff like in their daily lives. Because I feel like I didn't really get to know the characters. With the exception of the epilogue (obviously), the story takes places over a few days, and it's pretty much only when they're together and talking. So I feel like a lot was left out. Even though all the important stuff was included, it made me feel like it was a little unfinished.

The epilogue was beautiful and I knew it was going to be. That's the one thing that every review talks about. I didn't really expect them to be in that situation, but it certainly fit the story and was a really great ending. It just makes me wonder what is to come? Since this is #1 in the series. The epilogue kind of finished it off.... If you know what I mean...

And I love the cover too! Dude on the front is hot! And I love how the title and the author's name are tattoos on his body. That is really creative! And let's face it, if a book isn't by a well known author or really popular publishing company, the cover is usually crappy, but this one is gorgeous!!

So I say read it! It's worth your time and it really is a good story, I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series, I'd like to know what else happens with them :) And I'm looking forward to reading more by Diane Alberts.

Book Review: Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire

"He was afraid of nothing. Until he'd met me."

Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire

SYNOPSIS:
The new Abby Abernathy is a good girl. She doesn't drink or swear, and she has the appropriate percentage of cardigans in her wardrobe. Abby believes she has enough distance between her and the darkness of her past, but when she arrives at college with her best friend, her path to a new beginning is quickly challenged by Eastern University's Walking One-Night Stand.

Travis Maddox, lean, cut, and covered in tattoos, is exactly what Abby needs—and wants—to avoid. He spends his nights winning money in a floating fight ring, and his days as the ultimate college campus charmer. Intrigued by Abby’s resistance to his appeal, Travis tricks her into his daily life with a simple bet. If he loses, he must remain abstinent for a month. If Abby loses, she must live in Travis’s apartment for the same amount of time. Either way, Travis has no idea that he has met his match.

My Thoughts:
Honestly I don't know what to say about this book.... It was everything I ever wanted, needed and could ask for without even knowing I did. It did take me a while to read, which I was not happy about, I had so much going on and I was really busy. But when I had time to read I was into it! And I still can't get over the story. All the ups and downs, my god was it ever a roller coaster. It was so worth it.

I thought the characters were great. I have no complaints on them whatsoever. Abby aka "Pidge" (still don't understand how that name came about) was perfect. Fun, nice, caring, smart, outgoing, --all the good qualities that make up a good college character :) And Travis! Omg! Travis! I really wish he was a real person and living in my little crappy town. Oh the things i would.... Wait, I'm getting off subject... He's a bad boy who rides a motorcycle, a hot little cutie with an attitude and a bunch of girls always chasing him. He has tattoos and he's just awesome. Who wouldn't wanna sit here all day and talk about Travis, but I must move on. I thought Shep and America were good side characters. They did their job in supporting their friends and sticking up for one another.

In the synopsis it talks about the "new Abby Abernathy" and getting away from the "darkness of her past"... It really confused me when I was reading the book because I kept thinking -"well what it is? Tell me already"... And you have to wait a while. Then when I did, it was like that's it?!? Then it went into it a little more and it made perfect sense why she moved, started over, and wanted nothing to do with the past. I would have too.

And the ending... Like holy hell. Who was that coming? Like seriously! Okay, I've run out of things to say without spoiling it, I'll leave the rest for my rant/discussion post. So once again, here are my famous last words. Just go read it! I gave it 5 stars!

Have a good day!
