Movie Review: Mini's First Time
"Sex. Murder. Blackmail. There's a first time for everything."
Release Date: July 14, 2006
DVD Release Date: October 24, 2006
Cast:
Plot Summary:
Nick Guthe's darkly comic Mini's First Time stars Nikki Reed as the title character, a manipulative, highly sexualized teenager with parents who fail to offer much structure or guidance. Her stepfather (Alec Baldwin) is rich and dim, and her mother (Carrie-Anne Moss) leads a hard-partying lifestyle. As the relationship between Mini and her stepfather grows more twisted, criminal activity occurs. Luke Wilson appears as a detective investigating the situation, and Jeff Goldblum plays their wealthy neighbor.
My Thoughts:
This movie is a must see for everyone! I had never even heard of it until my sister had me watch it, and I am so glad I did. The first time I saw Nikki Reed in a movie was when she was in Thirteen with Evan Rachel Wood, and she was really good in that one. She did just as good in this one. She plays a really good crazy slut, I know that's not nice to say, but she is a really good actress.
Reasons To Watch It:
-Alec Baldwin is hot, not matter how old he's getting.
-Nikki Reed is hot too, and she plays a good psycho.
-It's a really interesting movie.

Have you seen this?
You really should watch it?
Did you see her in Thirteen?

Waiting on Wednesday: Nobody But Us
releases that we're eagerly anticipating.
Nobody But Us by Kristin Halbrook
Expected Publication: January 29, 2012
Synopsis:
Bonnie and Clyde meets IF I STAY in this addictively heart-wrenching story of two desperate teenagers on the run from their pasts.
They’re young. They’re in love. They’re on the run.
Zoe wants to save Will as much as Will wants to save Zoe. When Will turns eighteen, they decide to run away together. But they never expected their escape to be so fraught with danger....
When the whole world is after you, sometimes it seems like you can’t run fast enough.
Nobody But Us, told in alternating perspectives from Will and Zoe, is an unflinching novel, in turns heartbreaking and hopeful, about survival, choices, and love...and how having love doesn’t always mean that you get a happy ending. Described as “beautiful, heartbreaking, and exhilarating” by Kody Keplinger, author of The DUFF, Nobody But Us will prove irresistible to fans of Nina Lacour, Jenny Han, and Sara Zarr.
This one has been on my list for a while.
With all the young love and running.
And possible danger, and stuff.
I bet it's going to be amazing :)
Is this on your to be read list?
What are you waiting on?

Most awkward situation ever. I was the third wheel on a venture to see the newest Brad Pitt film. The good thing about being a third wheel is that you don't have a date to worry about entertaining during the film. I could actually pay attention and examine what I was seeing. It was a guy film. One of those gangster 'lets kill him cause he stole our money' type flicks. I was wondering for the longest time, what had happened to Brad Pitt? His luscious wife had been making films and working, but I hadn't seen much from him. Busy being a good father and sex symbol I suppose. Either way, the break was worth it because Brad Pitt was back in a big way.
His character in the film is pretty baddass, in a way that only he could play. He goes around reaping vengeance for the higher ups and does it ever so smoothly. If shooting a man in the face through his car window several times at a stoplight can be considered smooth. After several first class ass kickings and assassinations I started to realize that this film was much more clever than it lets on. Underneath all that hard and gritty guy film exterior it is a public service announcement. It is a truthful commentary on the state of the American government and economy. This is made clear in the final moments of the film when Brad Pitt speaks these epic words:
"My friend, Thomas Jefferson is an American saint because he wrote the words 'All men are created equal', words he clearly didn't believe since he allowed his own children to live in slavery. He's a rich white snob who's sick of paying taxes to the Brits. So, yeah, he writes some lovely words and aroused the rabble and they went and died for those words while he sat back and drank his wine and fucked his slave girl. This guy wants to tell me we're living in a community? Don't make me laugh. I'm living in America, and in America you're on your own. America's not a country. It's just a business. Now fuckin' pay me. "
That right there summed up the whole film for me and then the screen smashed to black. Very few movies nowadays leave you feeling complete at the end, like there was a purpose. This one did. I went into this movie with no expectations because I hadn't heard anything about it. When I left the film, it had a warm and fuzzy spot in the politically centered riot zone in my mind. This movie made me think, it made me mad. Because nothing that Brad Pitt said in those last moments was false. And suddenly the title of the film made so much more sense. We, the people, are 'them' and we are being 'killed softly'.

Movie Review: Cloud Atlas
"Everything Is Connected"
IMDB - Rotten Tomatoes - Amazon - Official Site
Cloud Atlas explores how the actions and consequences of individual lives impact one another throughout the past, the present and the future. Action, mystery and romance weave dramatically through the story as one soul is shaped from a killer into a hero and a single act of kindness ripples across centuries to inspire a revolution in the distant future. Each member of the ensemble appears in multiple roles as the stories move through time.

My Thoughts:
Sometimes, it happens rarely give the state of current authorship, but sometimes the film is better than the book.
I recently started dating again after my breakup and a friend decided to take me to see the film Cloud Atlas. I didn't know much about what I was going to see. So, I didn't have any real expectations from the movie. I wasn't prepared for the single most life altering film experience I had ever had.
The film begins slowly, but at the same time dives into a world of reality and fiction, past, present and future to give you a feel for what's in store. The films score is magical, it evokes feelings of utter sadness and loss, mixed with the angelic ting of hope. The film itself plays out like a symphony of words, images and thoughts.
Needless to say it was for me a life altering experience. I no longer thought my problems, my life, myself was something singular unto myself. But after seeing this film it became all to apparent to me that I am part of the past, the present and the future. That every decision I make will effect the world in some way no matter how minute. That every decision made before me has affected me and caused me to be who and what I am.
Cloud Atlas is 3 hours long but it feels like a blip of time because the view becomes so entangled with the action on screen. It is visual poetry and musical history. It is love, life, humanity, cruelty, death, loss, pain and hope. This film is more human than many of us could feign to ever be. I urge everyone to see it. Learn from it. Live it.
