My Thoughts:

This book was amazing! It's a short read, only about 100 pages, but it feels like so much more. There is so much anticipation and sexual tension when reading this book! It's hot and steamy and I just couldn't wait to get through it. The main characters were great. Since it was so short there wasn't too much back story, but the characters were developed. There's also 4 more books to this series, so there's plenty of time for lots to happen. I gave this book 5 stars on Goodreads, so I'd recommend it to anyone who likes romance or erotica.

My Thoughts: 

This one was a short one. So few pages and so much story to tell. I discovered this one in listopia-land. It had a lot of great reviews, so obviously I had to read it. And I love short stories, it makes me feel like I read a lot in a short amount of time. I'm weird, I know :)

I was glad that we got some back story between the 3 characters because it just starts out and we really don't know what's going on. There really was a lot of sexual tension between Erica and Jeremy, and I kept waiting for them to do something about it...

Overall it was a good story. I wish it was a bit longer and had them doing more stuff like in their daily lives. Because I feel like I didn't really get to know the characters. With the exception of the epilogue (obviously), the story takes places over a few days, and it's pretty much only when they're together and talking. So I feel like a lot was left out. Even though all the important stuff was included, it made me feel like it was a little unfinished. 

The epilogue was beautiful and I knew it was going to be. That's the one thing that every review talks about. I didn't really expect them to be in that situation, but it certainly fit the story and was a really great ending. It just makes me wonder what is to come? Since this is #1 in the series. The epilogue kind of finished it off.... If you know what I mean... 

And I love the cover too! Dude on the front is hot! And I love how the title and the author's name are tattoos on his body. That is really creative! And let's face it, if a book isn't by a well known author or really popular publishing company, the cover is usually crappy, but this one is gorgeous!! 

So I say read it! It's worth your time and it really is a good story, I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series, I'd like to know what else happens with them :) And I'm looking forward to reading more by Diane Alberts.

I read Switch a while back and I was not really impressed with it, it was actually pretty horrible. The synopsis' for these sound really good and interesting, so I went ahead and got them. And I hope I didn't make a huge mistake. If you've read any of these let me know if they're good or not.

Book Review: Slammed by Colleen Hoover

My Thoughts:

So.... Yeah.... Slammed.... Where to begin....

I suppose I will start at the beginning. I saw this book around goodreads a few times and never really gave it a chance. I didn't even read the synopsis. I just looked at the title and thought "Uh... what?... No". I shouldn't have judged the book by the title....

I first actually paid attention to this book after I had read beautiful disaster by Jaime McGuire and was looking at a list on goodreads about similar books with intense love. And I believe this book was #3 or #4. So I read the synopsis, but still judged. (I've really got to stop doing that).. It sounded interesting but the part that threw me off was the slam poetry thing. The only slam poetry I've seen was on TV & in movies, and it's always been poetry ethnic I'll say. So.. I was thinking this is either going to be ghetto or weird. But it was amazing. I repeat... AMAZING!

Poetry wasn't a huge part of this book like I thought it was gonna be, but it was a very meaningful part. I thought it was going to have a lot of poetry but there were actually only a handful. I thought the best one of all of them was the first one. When Will first takes Lake to slam night and the girls does the poem about being abused. It was like wow!

I really loved how the story played out. I was thinking there's no way.. like what can happen now... but it kept going and going and getting better and better. Layken was a really good character. She'd recently lost her father but was coping pretty well I think. And helping her mom with her little brother. I think it really said a lot about the character she was and grew even more to be. Will was also great, he too had been through some stuff, losing both his parents and now trying to raise his little brother while trying to finish college. I think they were just meant to be. I love when authors write such amazing love stories with such believable characters and true love. Gahhhh!

A few characters that I think need some recognition is Eddie, Caulder & Kel (the little brothers). Eddie was a wonderful best friend, even though she had really been through some shit in her lifetime, her optimism and outlook on life was very refreshing. She was very supportive of everything that Lake was going through. And Kel & Caulder, they made this book fun, when there were really serious moments, I felt like they were there so I wouldn't cry. Haha, I know it sounds weird, but I think it's true. And Halloween was I think the best part that involved the boys, just thinking about that part of the story makes me smile.

The relationship that Lake and Will had was so intense and deep and emotional. It drew me in in every way possible. I really love books like that. It's really inspiring for those looking for love and it's so romantic. There were times I wanted to cry. And times when I was very pissed off, but everything I went through was so worth reading this book.

I hope that you'll give it a change and don't judge it like I did :) I originally gave this book 4 stars and then sat there wondering why I only gave it 4, so I changed it to 5. Because there is nothing I would change about this book. It was perfect! I can't wait to read Point of Retreat and eventually the third book! It can't come fast enough! And I recently discovered another book by Colleen Hoover called Hopeless, I can't wait to get my hands on that either!

Book Review: The Maze Runner

My Thoughts:
I couldn't even imagine going through all the stuff that Thomas went through. Waking up in this box. In this new place. And not remembering anything except your name and some basic skills. My imagination really ran wild when reading this book. The descriptions of everything from the people, to the glade, to the creepy things in the maze. It really was amazing in my head.

Thomas was really brave, he dove right into life in the Glade. I loved his drive and ambition to be a runner and figure out how to get out of the Glade. Despite the fact that the others had been there for 2 years and tried everything they could think of. And the others doubted his abilities so much, they thought he wasn't cut out for it. That really spoke to me about his character and courage. And we can't forget their special slang they had, I thought that was a fun little extra while reading the book.

There is a little bit of romance, which we all knew was going to happen. We have this place filled with boys and then a girl is introduced. It was really nice, but not overwhelming  boys/men should have no problems reading through the romantic parts.

Let's not forget the cover. I also found this picture online (I'll post it at the end). It really gives a good idea of what it would be like for the Gladers. What the walls look like, How scary it would be to stare at those 4 walls day in and day out. And especially for the runners, they have to venture out into this maze and try to figure out how to get out or get stuff in there and well.. you know... I just love all the colors. And love how dark the sky looks.

The end got a little weird, it did answer some questions but not everything. But I really loved this book, I gave it 4 stars on Goodreads. And I plan to continue with the series, but I heard it gets a little weird so I'm a little apprehensive. I'd really like to know what's going on with them.

Movie Review: Vamps

My Thoughts:
This was a really cute movie. Alicia Silverstone and Krysten Ritter work very well together. It was funny and romantic, but more funny to me. The part about the technology was hilarious, cuz they didn't know how to work it. They kept all the regular myths about vampires and didn't add any weird ones, and I was very happy about that. Watching the movies made me wish that I was their friend, they were so happy and fun and care free. They made being vampires look like a lot of fun. Some of the special effects were not so good, but oh well.

Bottom Line:
-It's a good move.
-Really fun to watch.
-It has Dan Stevens in it!
-And I think most will enjoy it!

Book Review: Where She Went by Gayle Forman

My thoughts:
I can tell this is going to be a review of few words, because this is definitely one of those books when I say- just go read it. But I'll try...

As I said in my review of If I Stay, I listened to Where She Went on audiobook. It only seemed right since I had listened to If I Stay. I knew that it was set a few years after the whole accident thing. And I knew that he had become famous and she had went off to Juilliard. But I wasn't sure exactly where they were going to pick back up.

It was really great hearing about what happened shortly after the accident. And learning why they're not together. And really seeing how things played out. Because when it starts out, you're left in the dark. We thought everything would be all good after she healed, I mean not perfect, but you know? Pretty good.

So it's 3 years later and nobody knows what happened. We don't know why they are broken up. Why they haven't talked in 3 years. And Adam's in New York and he goes to her concert. I really didn't expect that, but I love the way he talks about how her music makes him feel. It really speaks volumes.

One thing I really loved was the lyrics that were in the beginnings of each chapter. And he would say what album and what track. I think it really gave a lot of insight into how he was feeling.

Overall, I loved the first book and really thought the sequel was done really well. I would recommend this to my friends. They're good, quick read. I gave it 4 stars on Goodreads.

Book Review: Switch by Megan Hart

Don't think. 

Don't question. 

Just do. 

The anonymous note wasn't for me. Don't get me wrong, I'm not in the habit of reading other people's mail, but it was just a piece of paper with a few lines scrawled on it, clearly meant for the apartment upstairs. It looked so innocent, but decidedly-- deliciously-- it was not.

Before replacing the note--and the ones that followed --in its rightful slot, I devoured its contents: suggestions, instructions, summonses, commands. Each was more daring, more intricate and more arousing than the last... and I followed them all to the letter.

Before the notes, if a man had told me what to do, I'd have told him where to go. But submission is an art, and there's something oddly freeing about doing someone's bidding...especially when it feels so very, very good.

But I find that the more I surrender, the more powerful I feel--so it's time to switch up roles.

We play by my rules now.

My Thoughts:

Okay... I'm just gonna come right out and say it... This book was crap and a major let down... So let's get into the why. First off, this is the first book I've read by Megan Hart. I had others planned to read first, like: Dirty & Tempted. But I was walking through Wal-Mart and happened to see this on one of the end caps. And I thought she's a best selling author, and the synopsis sounds good, I'll take a chance and get it. Man! I was so wrong! Big mistake on my part...

The first part of this review will be spoiler free and then I will begin my rant and I'll talk about the entire book, even the part that I couldn't bare to read, but looked it up because I had to know what happened. 

So, in the synopsis it says "Don't think. Don't question. Just do." It should say "Don't think. Don't question. Just keep on walking." Pass this book up! When I read the synopsis I assumed she would find these letters and start some sort of relationship with the person sending them. And by the last part, "we play by my rules now," I figured she would be the more dominant person in said relationship. This book has absolutely nothing to do with domination or submission. Or anything that the synopsis might hint into to.

This book is about a woman who is obsessed with stationary and starts finding these notes in her mailbox, so she starts following the instructions and replaces the notes in the correct box. The stupid thing is... How is it fun if the other end doesn't know you're even playing, let alone complying? So in the book, you pretty much just go along with her daily life, it's nothing special except she's a slut. At least we have something to read about.

Now I'll go on with my rant... The beginning of this book she's going partying with her friend. And pretty much looking for someone to have to sex with. She ends up seeing her ex husband. And has sex with him. And there's a lot of flash backs. They're fairly boring. The sex scenes are okay, not horrible, but not great. She does use some weird terminology, maybe I'm just sheltered, but I have never heard anyone ever refer to a penis as a prick. I do know that it's used to call someone a dick. But never heard it actually used as a name for a penis.

So finally she meets the guy that is receiving the letters and she has a little date with him. I think that part of the book was actually interesting because I was thinking it could really take off, it could really turn out to be a great book. But then it didn't. So she has sex with pretty much everyone, including her boss. And then ends up getting back with her ex husband. That's pretty much the end.

My Thoughts:
So I was in a major reading slump before starting this book. I started reading Switch by Megan Hart, and by the synopsis it seemed really great, but it's not. I started looking for something that I knew would interest me. My sister actually introduced me to Selena Kitt, I had never heard of her up until a few months ago. I read one of her short stories called Hannah’s Choice, which I downloaded for free on iBooks and it's also free on Goodreads, and that wasn't very good. The description of the sex was good, but the storyline was just plain weird. So I decided to give her another chance.

With me being in that reading slump and everything, I wanted to find a book that was on the shorter side because who comes out of a slump reading a 400 page book? Not this girl. I had a little craving for some more erotica since finishing Reflected in You and decided to go through my Selena Kitt TBR list and this one sounded perfect.

I think I knew from the first few pages that I was going to LOVE this book... it just had that vibe that I was unknowingly looking for. Since the whole bdsm erotica fad has come into play... I’ve been looking for some real bdsm quality stuff. Although this is on the lighter side, the intensity of being told what to do is all there. And the sex in this book was very, very hot!

When she fell and tripped over his legs and messed up his pants I was thinking: "oh shit, here we go with another Christian Grey thing!" But no, hell no, this is way, way, way (a million times way) better. This short story is intense, ravishing, beautiful, and so sexy. Although Kaiser is described as a man with salt and pepper hair, that old man can rock my socks anyday!

I really liked Heidi, she was a really great submissive character, they don't really make em like that anymore! And Kaiser, oh my, he never backs down. And let’s face it: every female loves a strong male character. One person I didn't really care for was Heidi's friend Lenny, he was just a bit annoying and I felt like he needed to just go away, but in the end it all worked out very well. And I hated Andrea, what a hateful bitch she was; I just wanted to slap her so bad. And I’m not sure if Selena Kitt was trying to use the real Roberto Cavalli and just ended up misspelling his name, but I kept thinking that every time his name would appear, in this book it's spelled -Roberto Cavelli.

One more last thing is: I’m going to talk crap about the cover. Yes, it was published by a not so big company. But really?? The cover is almost horrible. I love the position the models are in, because it's obviously in the book a lot. But like I said before, Kaiser is described as having salt and pepper hair, so obviously he is older. And the model is what? Like 30? And I think I remember Heidi being described as a blonde, and when she gets her hair done she says she got more blonde highlights, but the girl on the cover has a dark blonde, but more on the light brown side, color of hair... I just wish they would have thought more about it. Also, I do believe this is the second cover, the first one is also inaccurate... if you read the book and then look up the cover, you'll see why.

Overall I gave it 5 stars, I couldn't really find anything wrong with it. It was perfect and exactly what I needed to get out of that reading slump. And it's a very quick read at only 152 pages, but let me tell you, a whole lot happens in those pages. If you're into the whole dom/sub thing, I’m sure you will love this one. Definitely give it a try.

I love Zane so much! The first book I read by her was The Sex Chronicles. Which is a book full of short erotica stories. The way she  writes her erotica is a match  made in heaven for me.

Jenny Plague-Bringer

This is just a little reminder to the Jenny Pox lovers that the fourth book, Jenny Plague-Bringer, is now available. It was released in October. I just recently read Jenny Pox, you can see my review here, I have to say I really loved it. It was something different that I really enjoyed. If you haven't tried the series, you most definitely should.  And since I haven't read the second and third book in the series, I won't be posting the synopsis to this book, because I don't want it to spoil anything for me or anyone else who hasn't read them.
