They're Coming! is a humorously creepy picture book from author/illustrator Timothy Young. It shows monsters and ghouls and various creatures from all over. Why are they coming? You'll have to read the book to find out.

My Thoughts:

This book has the perfect amount of creepy-ness, and suspense for a children's book. It keeps you going and going and wondering what's going on. But of course at the end you find out what they're actually coming for. And us, as adults, know that it's nothing truly scary, but it was great for my son. He loved the ending and was smiling and laughing. He's always loved scary stuff and Halloween. And he's practically obsessed with zombies.

I recommend this book to everybody, but especially moms who have children that love scary stuff :)

He is currently finishing his second book for Random House and has many more in various stages of completion.

My Thoughts:

Thank god their little problem was taken care of. I couldn't stand the suspense of what was going to happen to them. I think I had my hand over my mouth for about the last 6 issues. I was happy to put it down, but not before moving my hand from my mouth to cover my eyes... Issue #33- ... WOW! .... Just WOW! That one's pretty graphic. But I think it was completely necessary. Ya know?! Who wouldn't seek revenge like that? I would. I wouldn't have had the nerve to do half the things she did. But I would've  done something.

Seriously, how long can the same things happen?! They can't just live life and fight the zombies. Something has to happen or it would be boring. And since we're already in the zombie apocalypse, it has to be pretty outrageous. I'm really loving the ideas that are coming up in my head when I think of what could happen. But I'm sure Kirkman thought of better ones.

I'm hearing the next book is pretty insane, so I think I'll go read that now. Of course by the time this is posted I'll probably be up to date on all issues, because I'm reading these so fast. And who really wants 6 book reviews on the same series within like 2 days. But I am writing the reviews as I go along. I don't want to get confused about what happened in what volume and run stuff together and then it's a piece of zombie foot review. Haha. Piece of zombie foot?! I must be losing my mind.

Last night I had a dream about the walking dead. That's how much this series is taking over my brain. And I wasn't scared either, because lets face it, I'm a big baby. But I was surprisingly happy with my dreams of Rick and Tyreese fighting off the zombies. And it was really weird. And then I dreamt of going to the store to buy chicken. That was the awkwardness of my post sleep thoughts. I dreamt about zombies and then buying chicken at Albertsons. Hmmmm....? hungry much.

Overall I gave this volume 4 stars. I think this is my most favorite series so far. I don't think I'll ever stop reading it. If you want to read my reviews for the previous volumes you can do so here- Vol. 1, Vol. 2, Vol. 3, Vol. 4 &5.

Book Review: The Walking Dead, Volume: 4 & 5

Life in the prison starts to get interesting for Rick Grimes and the rest of our survivors. 

Relationships heat up, fizzle out, and change entirely almost overnight. 

By the end of this volume, relationships between key characters are radically changed, setting the stage for future events in TheWalking Dead.

My Thoughts:
Volume 4 was good, but it kinda started to slow down. It was more soap opera-ish than anything, which I personally enjoy. I love drama. I love fighting. I love relationship problems. a lot happened, I try to keep these spoiler free just in case someone hasn't read that far yet. Or is maybe watching the show and I wouldn't want to ruin something that could happen in the show. And I don't want to give stuff away that happens in previous issues/volumes.

The plot was still good. Moved along nicely. Lots of stuff going on. Cliffhangers and all, which I do enjoy at the end of the issue. It's like little finales or something in the middle of the book. Of course there's killings and all that jazz.

By the way, Charlie Adlard is still the illustrator and Cliff Rathburn is still doing the color/shading. And both are going wonderfully.

This is a major turning point for the overall story of The Walking Dead, setting the stage for years to come.

My Thoughts:
Well, just when you think it can't get that much crazier, it does. Volume 5 really took off. There was a huge change. They actually found another group of survivors and that doesn't go over so well, it's actually pretty gruesome. And it had me scared for the rest of the book and I'm still scared because it hasn't been resolved yet.

Lori is working my nerves. She needs to just shut up already. She is so hard on Rick all the time and always so worried. And he's just trying to build a better life for everyone and help in any way possible. And her secret. OMG, it's just painful for me to watch. I can't believe she won't just tell it already. and the whole Carol thing, like really?! Wtf was that all about? Anybody have an opinion on that?! I'd love to hear it.

I can't believe how much I'm liking this series. I've read the first 5 volumes in like 3 days. I usually get tired of stuff pretty easily. But there must be just enough crazy stuff going on and changes every volume to keep me going. I've actually already caught up to the most recent issue. I will have a review for Volume 6: This Sorrowful Life, but that will be the last. Then I'll do an overall series (so far) review. This volume follows our band of survivors as they set up a permanent camp inside a prison. Relationships change, characters die, and our team of survivors learn there's something far more deadly than zombies out there: each other.

My Thoughts:
So here we are, Volume 3, this volume has issues #13-18 in it. So many things are happening in this one. It's really getting wild out there and survival mode is needed more than ever.

We thought shit was getting crazy in volume 2, I was wrong, terribly wrong. They're fighting more and more zombies. And trying to find a place to hide out and live as more of a permanent solution. They some what find one, but it's a prison!

People start going crazy, turning on each other. Fighting and arguing like crazy over the dumbest stuff. Some more new characters were introduced. Obviously since people keep dying, which I assume will keep happening. It just makes me wonder how far the main, main characters are gonna make it. We had one big scare with a main character. I would've been very upset had that happened.

And for some reason, there was actually a good amount of sex in this one. Which at first seems awkward, but honestly, with all this craziness, sex is probably essential. It's the one easy thing you can do to feel relaxed and actually happy. I don't blame them.

This volume only got 4 stars because I think it got a little too crazy. Some of it could've been left out. And it would've been perfect. And there's so many things going on with the different groups of characters that I'm starting to get confused. But I look forward to continuing with this series. I just cant get enough of the zombies! Here are my reviews for Vol 1 & Vol 2 :)

This volume follows our band of survivors on their tragic journey in search of shelter. Characters live and die as they brave a treacherous landscape littered with packs of the walking dead.

My Thoughts:
I just couldn't get enough of The Waking Dead, so pretty much immediately after I finished volume 1, I had to start volume 2. I read half last night and the second half this morning. It didn't take me long, it's a really quick read, but the main point is that it's a great read. You can see my review of volume 1 here.

As I said in my review of volume 1, I don't do the whole zombie thing, but this series is epic! I can already tell. If you love zombies, you will absolutely love it. If you like comics or graphic novels, I'm sure you will love this also. It's not so much that it's zombies, because it's not. There's love, betrayal, survival, struggle, heartbreak.... I mean, everything you could ever want (plus zombies) is in this series.

So, this volume includes issues #7-12, and let me tell you now, shit really starts to hit the fan. Of course with all these zombies, they're forced to keep a move on and looking for food and weapons. All the essentials to surviving the zombie apocalypse. So there are some journeys, some pretty interesting ones too. Along with journeys comes new characters, along with new characters obviously means some of the old ones have to die... Dun dun dunnnn! Sorry, I had to! 

The story telling was fabulous just like last time. The plot kept a steady move, never boring. There were a lot of different emotions in this one as I mentioned above.. Some romance, betrayal, heartbreak, loss.. And lots and lots of arguing and action! I haven't had the thought "well, what else could happen?" yet because I don't think that will ever come. Anything and everything could happen!

And of course, the art is fantastic as well. We did have a change of artist though -Tony Moore did issues #1-5 and Charlie Adlard took over from issue #6 and is the current illustrator. There's lots and lots of detail. You really get the whole picture and know everything that's happening. And I like how when someone is eaves dropping, it will show them listening on one side of the strip and the people talking on the other. I always find those funny for some reason. It couldn't have been any better. I would give it 10 stars if possible.

Can't wait to see what happens next.

A couple months ago he was a small town cop who had never fired a shot and only ever saw one dead body. Separated from his family, he must now sort through all the death and confusion to try and find his wife and son. In a world ruled by the dead, we are forced to finally begin living. 

My Thoughts:
ZOMBIES! Everybody loves zombies! Except me... I've seen Zombieland, but other than that, nothing. I've never read any zombie books or watched zombie shows. But I do like them and think its quite interesting. And to think of the whole zombie apocalypse idea is entertaining.

So to start this review, I'll start with how I first heard of The Walking Dead. It was the show, my sister heard about it and watched it and obviously thought it was absolutely epic. She forced me to watch one episode, which I liked, but didn't quite understand what was going on because it wasn't the first episode. And for some reason I didn't continue to watch it.

Well the other day I was looking for comic books for my son to read, to get him more interested in reading, and came across The Walking Dead. So I figured I liked the show, and the books are always better, so I should just read it. And I had only saw one episode, which was in the first season, so it wasn't spoiled for me. Perfect! So I got the first book, which is he first 6 issues put together to make up a sort of graphic novel.

So what did I think...? It was amazing! I was hoping it'd be in color, but it wasn't, which is okay. I've yet to read a comic book or manga that's in color, so it didn't bother me too much. And when I thought about it, they'd have to deal with all the colors of the blood and flesh. So it makes sense. I love how it starts out and you're just kind of thrown in there. And you don't know what's happening or what has started all of this craziness. I love learning along with the characters.

I wasn't expecting there to be that many characters either, but I suppose it makes sense. With 17 volumes so far and over 100 issues, you gotta start big and start killing off people so you can get some more in there and then kill them! That's what makes a good story.. Right..? :)

Let's talk about the art... Oh my god! Fabulous! It's so detailed with the zombies. The facial expressions are great. I haven't read any other comic books out there, so I don't have much to compare it to, except for Death Note. And I think it's done very well. The only problem I seem to have is I forget to look at the pictures. I'm too focused on hurrying up and reading through it, because I just want to know what happens. So I have to tell myself to slow down. Enjoy it. Look at the pictures :)

The story telling was great too. There was never a dull moment. It was very informative when we're figuring out what's going on. The back story (before the zombie apocalypse started) was good and not overpowering. I gave it 5 stars, I would've gave it more if possible. I've continued reading the series and I'm enjoying every issue. I can't wait to see where this goes... Bottom Line: READ IT!
