Love it or Hate it...?

This tag was created by Raeleen (padfootandprongs07) as a YouTube book tag, but I stole it and thought it would be fun. Enjoy! And if you want to do it also, go right ahead. Leave a link to your post in the comments. I'd love to see your answers.

QUESTIONS:
1. Top 3 favorite books?
- Divergent by Veronica Roth
- 13 Reasons Why by Jay Asher
- Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire
2. Top 3 least favorite books?
The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith
- The Duff: Designated Ugly Fat Friend by Kody Keplinger
- Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer
3. Top 3 favorite characters?
- Travis Maddox (Beautiful Disaster)
- Tris (Divergent/Insurgent)
- L (Death Note)
4. Top 3 least favorite characters?
- Professor Snape (Harry Potter)
- Bianca (The Duff: Designated Ugly Fat Friend)
- I can only think of 2 that aren't already on this list. See question #7 for more.
5. Biggest let-down?
- Fifty Shades Trilogy- Honestly?! It didn't go the way I wanted at all. And I was very, very upset about it... I assumed by what I had heard and how much people liked it, that it was going to play out a certain way. That didn't happen... Not even close.
6. Books that you liked that other people hated?
- Confessions of a Video Vixen by Karrine Stefans. I like this book, it was full of juicy Hollywood drama. I thought it was an interesting read, but it has a really low rating on goodreads and people are always talking crap about it.
7. Characters that people love but you hated?
- Anastasia Steele (Fifty Shades of Grey) & her inner goddess & her conscience... or whatever!
- The love interest in The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight. Initially I was like everyone else, but then I really thought about it, and he wasn't that great.
8. Characters that people hate but you loved?
-Lord Voldemort (Harry Potter) -I don't know that people hate him, I'm assuming they do. But who doesn't like the evil guy?!
9. Best Quotes?
“A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies," said Jojen. "The man who never reads lives only one.” -George R.R. Martin, A Dance With Dragons
“It is what you read when you don't have to that determines what you will be when you can't help it.” -Oscar Wilde
- “Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.” -Oscar Wilde
10. Worst Quotes?
- Is there such a thing as bad quotes..? If it's "bad" or "stupid" you would never hear it because it's not popular... right?
11. Books you didn't finish?
- Partials by Dan Wells
- The Best of Me by Nicholas Sparks
- Shadow Fires by Dean Koontz
12. What book have you read the most times?
- I haven't re-read anything except for books from when I was younger. But I would love to listen to "13 Reasons Why" by Jay Asher on audiobook. I loved reading it and I think it would be fabulous on audiobook. And I would re-read "Beautiful Disaster" by Jamie McGuire again and again and again!
13. Series where the first book was amazing but went downhill from there?
- Fifty Shades of Grey by E.L. James
- The Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer

Angela's Book Haul #9 (Erotica)

A small haul for you guys:
I got Bared to You at Costco.
Denzel's Lips at Dollar Tree
& Switch at Walmart.
And you know I'm cheap, so all
of them were for really good prices.

Bared to You by Sylvia Day (Crossfire #1)

He was beautiful and brilliant, jagged and white-hot. I was drawn to him as I'd never been to anything or anyone in my life. I craved his touch like a drug, even knowing it would weaken me. I was flawed and damaged, and he opened those cracks in me so easily...

Gideon knew. He had demons of his own. And we would become the mirrors that reflected each other's most private wounds... and desires. The bonds of his love transformed me, even as I prayed that the torment of our pasts didn't tear us apart...

Denzel's Lips by Anita Diggs

Welcome to Hercsville, Long Island, where everyone is young, rich, and beautiful. . .where four women are in search of love, sex, and sanity. . .
Asha Mitchell Seabrook is hot, young, and married to the very wealthy Nick Seabrook. But as rich as her man is, he just can't seem to satisfy her insatiable appetite for money or sex. . .
Dr. Penelope Brewster is a successful clinical psychologist, who is trying to keep the children of Hercsville's power elite in good mental health and out of trouble. But Dr. Penny has her own demons. . .
Glamorous, famous, and deeply troubled, Nancy St. Bart might be a successful soap opera actress, but she's also nursing some dangerous obsessions. And Denzel is just one of them. . .
Shareeka Ellison is as beautiful as the home she perfectly keeps. But her millionaire husband has turned into a man she doesn't know anymore and one who might just destroy everything she's worked so hard for. . .
As these four ladies struggle with the pressures of being sexy, black, and successful, they're about to discover what living the high life is really all about . . .

Switch by Megan Hart

Don't think.
Don't question.
Just do.

The anonymous note wasn't for me. Don't get me wrong, I'm not in the habit of reading other people's mail, but it was just a piece of paper with a few lines scrawled on it, clearly meant for the apartment upstairs. It looked so innocent, but decidedly-- deliciously--it was not.

Before replacing the note--and the ones that followed --in its rightful slot, I devoured its contents: suggestions, instructions, summonses, commands. Each was more daring, more intricate and more arousing than the last... and I followed them all to the letter.

Before the notes, if a man had told me what to do, I'd have told him where to go. But submission is an art, and there's something oddly freeing about doing someone's bidding...especially when it feels so very, very good.

But I find that the more I surrender, the more powerful I feel--so it's time to switch up roles.

We play by my rules now.

I suppose this is kind of an erotica haul.
Oops! Didn't do that on purpose.
Have you read any of these yet?
Are they on your list?

Crazy Book Buying Obsessions

This tag was created by ReadingWithJack as a YouTube thing. But I stole it! You can watch the original video here

1) Do you have an obsession with buying books?
Well of course I do!
2) When, where and how often do you buy your books? Do you go with anyone else or just by yourself?
I am always shopping for books. Always keeping my eye out for deals. I like to buy online, Barnes and Noble, my library has a bookstore in the back, and local book stores. I have a friend that I like to drag along with me, but sometimes I go by myself. Just depends on how bad I want to go shopping.
3) What kind of things attract you to books when browsing them? Is there a specific genre of books you automatically go and look at?
I always look in the YA, fiction and erotica sections. I usually look at the covers. If it looks interesting, then I will be more likely to pick it up and read the synopsis. But also, the title!
4) Do you prefer to buy new, used or a mixture of both?
Both! I'm all about the deals though. And I love used books as long as they are in really good condition.
5) How much are you willing to spend on books each month?
It just depends.
6) Have you ever gone on any 'book-buying bans'?
No. And I don't think I would make it. But I might give it a try one day.
7) How long does it take you to get around to reading recently bought books?
Depends on how much I really want to read it. If it just came out, then asap. Or if it sounds really, really good, also asap. If I'm only getting it because it's a deal or I eventually want to read it, then it could be a long, long time.
8) Do you prefer to buy a lot of shorter, cheaper books or just a few longer, more expensive ones?
I like to buy bigger books. The thicker they are, the happier I am.
9) Anything else to say about these awesome obsessions?
Want to make a donation to my book buying fund?? :)
 10) Who are you tagging?
Since I wasn't actually tagged... And I just decided to do it for fun... I tag everyone! I think it's fun. And very informative for readers.

Have a great day! :)

Swoon Thursday: Bared to You

Swoon Thursday #3!

Swoon Thursday

Swoon Thursday is a HOT meme hosted by YA Bound.

From the book you’re currently reading, or one you just finished,
tell us what made you SWOON. What got your heart pounding, your
skin tingling, and your stomach fluttering.

Shout it out on Twitter with the hashtag #YABound, post it here in
the comments, or grab the adorable button above and share it on
your blog! We want to know :)

This week my swoon comes from Bared to You.

So, here it is:
"Romance isn't in my repertoire,
Eva. But a thousand ways to make
you come are. Let me show you."
The car slowed to a halt. He
withdrew the key from the panel
and the doors opened.
I backed into the corner and
shooed him out with a flick of
my wrist. "I'm really not interested."
"We'll discuss." Cross caught me
by the elbow and gently, but insistently,
urged me out.
I went along because I liked
the charge I got from being around
him and because I was curious to
see what he had to say when
afforded more than five minutes
of my time.
He was buzzed through the security
door so quickly there was no need
for him to break stride. The pretty
redhead at the reception desk pushed
hastily to her feet, about to impart
some information until he shook his
head impatiently. Her mouth snapped
shut and she stared at me as we
passed at a brisk pace, her eyes wide.

Hope you enjoyed!

Top Ten Book Romances That Would Make It In Real Life

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly
meme held over at The Broke and the Bookish
This week's topic is the Top Ten book romances
that you think would make it in the real world.

1. Abby & Travis from Beautiful Disaster. --With all the crap that happened in this book, I'm positively sure they could make it in the real world. And this is a great book. It's my newest fav. You must read it!

2. Eva & Gideon from Bared to You. --I just started this book a few days ago, but I can already tell that their relationship is going to be effing epic! I'm already addicted to it!

3. Tris & Four from Divergent & Insurgent. --Like seriously?! Why do I even have to explain this one?! If you've read it, you know. If you haven't.... what are you waiting on?? Their love is just fabulous. I don't have any other way to say it..

4. Josh & Emma from The Future of Us. --I knew from the beginning of this book that I was gonna love them. And I did.

So atm, I could only think of 4. And if they're not in my brain right now, then they're not worth mentioning. Right?! So my list will just have to end here.

And I know I'm putting this up a day late. I've just been super busy lately. And I'm trying to keep track of what I need to post. I'll get it all figured out today!

And if you did a TTT, leave a comment and a link to yours :)

Have a great day everyone!

Tag: Would You Rather...?

Intro:
My name is Angela and I run this blog with my sister Nika. We talk about books and movies and all that junk. Enjoy!

The questions:
Reading: Would you rather read a classic book or a dictionary?
A classic book. I haven't read any of them. Not even in high school.
Getting: Would you rather receive a $50 gift card to a bookshop or a library card?
The gift card. I like to build my collection. I usually don't check out library books.
Shopping: Would you rather look at books at a bookstore or a library?
The bookstore. Because I'm usually gonna buy whatever I find that I like.
Sleeping: While you read, would you rather stay up and see what happens in the book (and it's a part where it's a must) or go to sleep?
I like to stay up late at night and read. Especially when it's a crazy good part. I have to see what happens.
Writing: Would you rather write on a laptop/computer or in a notebook/paper?
On a computer. I hate paper.
Eating: Would you rather eat while you read or keep glancing at the bag of food?
Eat while I read.
Have a great day!

Author Interview: Sherri Hayes

Sherri Hayes is the author of four published novels, Hidden Threat, Slave (Finding Anna Book 1), Behind Closed Doors and her newest release, Need (Finding Anna Book 2).

Welcome Sherri!

What inspired you to become an author?
I’m not really sure you could say anything inspired me to become an author. I’d posted a few stories online, which my publisher saw. They approached me, and as they say, the rest is history.

Who is your hero?
My grandfather. He died when I was thirteen, but he was the most compassionate man I've ever known. If more people were like him, the world would be a much better place.

Who is your favorite author?
Diana Gabaldon

Why do you write these kinds of books?
I write the types of stories I like to read. It’s just icing on the cake that other people love them too.

How did you come up with the idea for Slave and Need?
I’d been reading some D/s stories online when the news coverage for the Jaycee Dugard story began. Over the next few days, more stories on human trafficking hit the news, and I started to wonder what would happen if I mixed the two.

What other future projects do you have in mind?
We've just started edits on the second novel in my Daniels Brother’s Series, Red Zone. The first book, Behind Closed Doors, came out in February 2012. There will be four books in that series, one for each brother. I’ve also started writing book three in Stephan and Brianna’s story. Between the two, they should keep me busy for the next couple of years, at least.

Any advice for baby writers?
Keep writing. I go back and look at that first story I wrote, and it’s hard to believe where I am now, and what I’m doing. Find one or two good critic partners, people who will be honest with you. If all they do is tell you how great you and your writing is, then they aren't doing anything to help you become a better writer.

Biography:
Sherri is the author of several novels, and a short story. She lives in central Ohio with her husband and three cats. Her first love was singing. Throughout her school years she was involved in various choirs, and has had eight years of classical vocal training. She also enjoyed acting in her teen years and feels that has helped her in her writing. Her mother fostered her love for books at a young age by reading to her as a child. Stories have been floating around in her head for as long as she can remember; however, she didn't start writing them down until four years ago. It has become a creative outlet that allows her to explore a wide range of emotions while having fun taking her characters through all the twists and turns she can create. When she’s not writing, she can usually be found helping her husband in his woodworking shop.

She is currently working on the third book in the Finding Anna Series.

Favorite Books:
The Outlander Series by Diana Gabaldon, The Bronze Horseman Trilogy by Paullina Simons, The Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer, Thread of Grace by Mary Doria Russell, Shadow Dance by Susan Andersen, and my current addiction, The Black Dagger Brotherhood series by J.D. Ward.

Summer Reads

Summer TBR!

Yes, yes I know that summer is half over, but I decided to go ahead and do a summer TBR. I NEVER, ever, ever do TBR's because I don't stick to them. When I'm done with a book and am searching for what I want to read next, I start at least 5 books. I don't know why... I guess I'm weird. I read the first 10 pages or so and see if I'm drawn in. If I'm not, I just save it for later.

So I picked books that sound REALLY interesting and that I REALLY want to read. So, I'm hoping I'll stick to the books. School doesn't start here til early September, so depending on the exact day, I have about 7 or 8 weeks to read 9 books. I'm pretty sure I can do it!

So, tell me, what's on your summer TBR?
Any of these books?

Have a great day!
