Top Ten Posts That Reflect You Best As A Person

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly
meme held over at The Broke and the Bookish
This week is the Top Ten posts on your blog that
would give the BEST picture of YOU (as a reade
and a person -- so pick the 10 best reviews/posts
that you wish every potential reader of your blog
would see!)

The first two are some of Nika's best posts:
The Poets Korner: Remembering To Forget: I honestly love this poem. I think it shows just how well Nika can write some poetry!

Movie Review: Dark Knight Rises: This is the best movie review Nika has written. She has so much love for Batman and the whole thing with the shooting, she just put her heart into this post.

Onto Mine:
Book Review: Need by Sherri Hayes: I think this is the best book review I've ever written. I loved this book so much. And it was so different from anything I'd ever read.

Cover Issues: Across The Universe Trilogy: This is a new thing I started. They really like messing with the book covers and I had a whole lot to say about the new covers to this trilogy. Go read!

Book Review: Easy by Tammara Webber: I don't know why I chose this post. I just really loved the book. It was a fabulous summertime read. You should definitely check it out.

Movie Review: Cedar Rapids: This one shows exactly what I think is funny! Stupid, stupid comedies! I think they're the only thing that keeps me going when I'm really down. Not family, friends and all that other cliche stuff. COMEDIES! And I absolutely love Ed Helms.

Book Review: Forbidden by Tabitha Suzuma: This post would be another I don't know one. This book was really different. And it's about a touchy subject.

Book Review: Looking For Alaska by John Green: This post shows how I really tried to like a book. How I gave my honest opinion and tried not to bash the book or the author. (**Come on! You gotta love John Green!**)

Book Review: Across The Universe by Beth Revis: Once again, I don't know why I chose this one. I really liked the book and enjoyed doing the post. It was also the very first review I wrote!

Angela's Buys: (6/25): This post shows just how much I love buying thrift books and how overly excited I get when I get to go there. It also shows my obsession with buying books. I'll keep buying until I'm broke.

Hope you like the posts I chose,
and if you did a TTT, leave a
comment and a link to yours.

Have a great day!

Cover Issues: Uglies by Scott Westerfeld

This is my second "Cover Issues" post. I find it interesting when they start changing all the covers. And for some reason I just have to make a post out of it and give my opinion :) So I think they did a good thing giving these covers a little re-do. Honestly, I never liked the first set. Specials and Extras would be the only ones that I would keep if I was forced to choose from the old set.

Uglies:
So first off, I haven't read these yet. So I can't relate the cover to the story and all that. This is 95% based on looks and 5% based on matching the title. First up, Uglies... As for the old cover, the girl is just standard to me, not really special or significant. And what is up with the weird looking plant by her face?! Not sure. And for the new cover, I love it! It looks so clean. I love how all of them are white. I love the hands, they look so perfect, almost like barbie hands, and the nails are perfectly painted. And the creepy face under the sheet or whatever that is. And dont miss out on the scalpul like i did the first few times i saw it. It's just awesome.

Here I found the full picture... And it's even weirder. I think they could've made it better by cropping it differently, but I'm not sure anything would have helped.

Pretties:
Onto Pretties, the old one is boring, lame, weird looking and everything else. I actually own the first three books and this cover is just ugly, the tones are all weird. And she's kinda in focus and he's half ass in focus and I just don't like it. The new one-- we got a good looking pair of legs there, along with some markings. Which I assume would be used for plastic surgery. I get it, it makes sense. I also failed to mention that all the covers have the names of all the books at the top and the title of that book is the one that stands out in color. Pretty good idea.

Here's the full picture of Pretties... It helps me a lot to see the full option. He looks a lot better like this and she does too. I think she could've been wearing a different shirt, I don't really care for that one. And still the red tones/shadows are just messing me up.

Specials:
Specials time! I liked the first cover. I thought all the marking on her face were pretty cool. They could mean some pretty awesome things in the story, if they represent something. And her eyes are black. Like black, black! And that's always fun. For the new cover, I love how it's a red head and I believe it's a guy which is different. With the back muscles and the short hair, I think so. But you never know. Especially when you haven't read the books. She could be superwoman for all I know. Hehe. But I love how the spine is tattooed. How awesome is that?!

The full picture once again.I think they should have put more of her face in the cover, because she is really pretty. And she says a whole lot more with her eyes, when you can see both of them.

Extras:
Lastly-- Extras. I thought the old one wasn't bad. The girls pretty, she has the hair in her face, that gives it a little something extra. Haha. Get it? -- extra. Anyways, And there's the eyes... Oooooh, the eye. Fabulous right?! But the new one. The eye is even better! Look at that eye shadow. And the lashes. Loving it! But I think I'm just in love with the makeup. And her skin looks absolutely perfect.

For this one I think it's pretty awesome that only one eye is different. It just bugs me that all these pictures have zero background. It's just a colored backdrop. I feel like they could've added so much just by having a background. Some kind of scene going on.

So I think that since I have the first three with the old covers, I'll probably just try and find the fourth book with the old cover so they match. Because we all know they have to match! But I had fun doing this one. I had a lot more to say about them than I thought I did. Hope you enjoyed. Leave me a comment and tell me what you thought. Let me know if you like these kinds of posts.

And here's some questions for you:
- Have you read the books? Were they good?
-Do either sets of covers go along with the plot?
-Which set do you prefer? Specific single cover you prefer?

Have a fabulous day!

Cover Issues: Across The Universe

So for now this will be called cover issues. Not sure if I'll have more of these. But right now I'm having some MAJOR issues with the cover changes for the Across The Universe Trilogy.

They really messed up here, I honestly think they ruined it. I don't understand why they (the publishers/authors/whoever makes the choice to change the covers) decide to change all the damn covers when the third and final book is coming out. Especially when they're downgrading them :( Ugh!

About the first set: This is the first set, that I know of at least, and I loved these covers. Especially the one for Across the Universe, the first time I saw it I thought "wth is that...?" Then I stared for a minute and noticed that it's actually Elder and Amy. And every time I see this cover, that's all I think of! It just sucked me in! And the space! Oh the space! Such beautiful colors. The purple and pink and the stars! GORGEOUS! On to A Million Suns, I loved this one once again for the colors, but they did change it to blue and pinkish beige, but it works wonderfully. And how awesome is it that it's Elder and Amy looking out of Godspeed into outer-space waiting to arrive?

The second set: I have not seen either of these covers in person, but have seen them on the internet. I think they're okay, might even say it's pretty, at least the first one is. I feel like after you've read the book, the cover has a lot to do with what's going on it the story. I can't say that for A Million Suns, I don't like that cover at all. It just doesn't make sense to me. It looks soap opera-ish to me...

Now... About the 'new' book covers. I'm just gonna jump ahead to the third and final book in the trilogy, Shades of Earth. I like the cover. It's a little plain, but with all that greenery, it mashes with the title pretty well and goes with what I'm expecting to see. And the font, it's edgy, and tech-y like, which fits very well with the fact that the ship has all this advanced technology and it being in the future and what not. What I think it really needs is some kind of something in the background. I'm not sure what, but something. As for the covers of the first two books, uh, no... That's about all I have to really say about that. They make no sense to me and they're plain and ugly. What I don't get is the sort of industrial wall/bolts thing at the bottom of them... Is that supposed to be the walls of Godspeed? And really showing you the fact that they're trapped on this spaceship?

So my questions for you are:
--Which covers do you like better?
--If you've read any of the books, do you think the cover fits the book?

Leave a comment and tell me your thoughts?

Have a good day!
