Waiting On Wednesday: Shades Of Earth

Waiting On Wednesday #19!
"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

This weeks pick is:
Shades of Earth by Beth Revis
#3 in the Across The Universe trilogy
Expected Publication: January 15, 2013

Goodreads - Amazon - B&N

The final book in the  New York Times bestselling trilogy, perfect for fans of Battlestar Galactica and Prometheus!

Amy and Elder have finally left the oppressive walls of the spaceship Godspeed behind. They're ready to start life afresh--to build a home--on Centauri-Earth, the planet that Amy has traveled 25 trillion miles across the universe to experience.

But this new Earth isn't the paradise Amy had been hoping for. There are giant pterodactyl-like birds, purple flowers with mind-numbing toxins, and mysterious, unexplained ruins that hold more secrets than their stone walls first let on. The biggest secret of all? Godspeed's former passengers aren't alone on this planet. And if they're going to stay, they'll have to fight.

Amy and Elder must race to discover who--or what--else is out there if they are to have any hope of saving their struggling colony and building a future together. They will have to look inward to the very core of what makes them human on this, their most harrowing journey yet. Because if the colony collapses? Then everything they have sacrificed--friends, family, life on Earth--will have been for nothing.

FUELED BY LIES.
RULED BY CHAOS.
ALMOST HOME.

Although I haven't read A Million Suns,
I still cannot wait for this one!
Across the Universe was amazing,
I loved every single thing about that book.
If you would like to read my review
for it, you can do that here.
And I can't wait to see what happens with
Godspeed and Amy and Elder.
Hopefully I get to A Million Suns soon.

What are you waiting on?

Favorite Book Covers

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly
meme held over at The Broke and the Bookish

This weeks topic is a Top Ten Tuesday Freebie!
Your time to pick whatever topic you'd like!
I picked my top ten favorite covers :)

So obviously today is Thursday, and not Tuesday,
but I completely forgot about this weeks TTT,
and it was a freebie, so I just had to do it :)

I really love this cover because:
#1- the girl is gorgeous!
#2 I love how they snuck in the second head. If you don't know what I'm talking out, you can see a profile of another person on the right side of the cover. the nose being right under the 't's' in What's.
#3 I also love how the ME is so big!

I like this cover because of the overall green color. I don't know that the cover directly represents the story. It's about a girl who died when she was younger and was put into a special program where they test a drug to revive you if you die. I suppose the cover could represent her hiding from the world, because since she was pronounced dead she now has a false life with all the essentials included: new name, new town, new parents...

This one is just gorgeous, I love all the colors. I especially like the purple. And the way Elder and Amy's heads are on there. The first time I saw the cover I didn't notice it, but now I can't forget it. I also did a post on the new covers, you can see it here, they are not very pretty... But whatever.

This is the new cover and I'd have to say I'm really loving it. I'm about 25% through this book right now, and I don't see the resemblance with the trees and waterfall, but maybe I will later...? Either way the colors are absolutely amazing and the trees coming out of the lashline--GORGEOUS!

I like this cover because:
#1 House creepy is the haunted house in the back?! I think it really sets the mood for the book, even though I haven't read it yet.
#2 I love the little specks of red throughout the cover.
#3 I love the way her hair looks so animated, and it's all blown to the side like that, with that little twist at the end. It's cute!

This one is great because I love the gothic like vibe it gives off. With the darkness of the woods with the blur-ish hue. And of course the gorgeous girl in the dress with her pale skin. Loving it!
I like this one because of the high tech looking apple and the puzzle pieces. I can't wait to read it and see more about what it will represent in the story.
Love the colors and the butterfly wings on the eyes. Love the fading in the corners and the vibrant colors. Also, the font, it's very different.
Another favorite because of the colors, I love how the cover artists put so much color into something without it looking like a rainbow. And the tree branches that sort of look upside down. And the floors that almost look like glass tiles with the reflections. It's beautiful.
I've always liked this cover... From the first moment I saw it. I don't know what it is about the water and the look on her face. And the sky above with the rocky waves and huge moon. Gahhhh!

Well those are my favorites.
I know I pretty much described
the covers, but that is what comes
to mind when seeing the covers.

Have a great one!

Top Ten Books That Should Be Movies

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly
meme held over at The Broke and the Bookish

This weeks Top Ten Tuesday topic is a rewind!
You can pick any past topic that you might have
missed or one that you just  want to do again!

I picked the top ten books you think should be made into movies. This was the topic on April 12, 2011. My blog wasn't created or even thought of back then. And this is a fun subject for me. I'm always thinking if I would want it to be made into a movie or not. I think that one question is what really makes up my final decision if I should put it on my favorites list or not. And I'm obviously talking about a world where the movie would be made my way and be exactly like the book and feel just like how it played out in my head while reading it.

I haven't finished Shatter Me and What's Left of Me yet, but I'm pretty far in and I know I'm going to love the ending, and hopefully the full series for both. Looking for Alaska wasn't that great to me, but I think it would actually be a pretty good movie. All the rest I just really loved and most are on my favorites list! :)

Now I'm going to insert a few that I would want to become movies and they actually are becoming movies. I can't wait for these!

Top Ten Series I Haven't Finished

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly
meme held over at The Broke and the Bookish

This weeks topic is the top ten series you haven't
finished for one reason or another.

I just started Vampire Academy, I'm not really into it yet. It seems good, so I'm hoping all the things I've heard about it will be true. And Across The Universe was great, I somehow just never got around to reading A Million Suns, and Shades of Earth will be released soon. So I really need to get on it!

I started the Harry Potter series last December I believe, and I'm currently on the fourth. I still like it, I think I just needed a break, but I never started reading them again. And The Hunger Games, I didn't like it as much as I thought I would. Especially with all the hype, I didn't think it was amazing, but I still want to finish the series.

Think of a Number was amazing! It was the perfect murder/mystery thriller. I couldn't read the pages fast enough, and then I just never got around to the second one. Uglies is one I haven't even started yet, but I have 3 of the books, so all I have to do is finally pick it up. One day...

The Maze Runner was another fabulous book, but again, I just never picked up the second one. I really need too, but I heard some things about the series going downhill after the first. So maybe that's what's holding me back. City of Bones is another that I've heard wonderful things about, but just haven't got it yet. I will soon though.

I loved Crank and Glass, but never got around to reading Fallout, and I kinda forgot what happened, so I plan on going back and reading the series from start to finish. Number is yet another that I think will be very interesting, but just haven't gotten around to starting it just yet. It's on my "up next" list though.

Then for some fun, I wanted to include a few manga/comic/graphic novel series I'd like to get started and/or finish!
Both Locke & Key and Scott Pilgrim vs The World I haven't started yet, but really need too. Locke & Key was recommended to me as something to read after I finished The Walking Dead graphic novels, which sadly has happened, so I plan on starting that very soon. And Scott Pilgrim, after watching the movie, which was awesome, I really wanted to read the books.

Emma is one that I don't really know much about, I saw it in a YouTube video and looked it up on Goodreads. It looks interesting, so we'll see how that goes, if I ever get there. Death Note has been amazing so far, I'm on volume 5 and I'm still really liking it.

series you'd like to finish?

Cover Issues: Across The Universe

So for now this will be called cover issues. Not sure if I'll have more of these. But right now I'm having some MAJOR issues with the cover changes for the Across The Universe Trilogy.

They really messed up here, I honestly think they ruined it. I don't understand why they (the publishers/authors/whoever makes the choice to change the covers) decide to change all the damn covers when the third and final book is coming out. Especially when they're downgrading them :( Ugh!

About the first set: This is the first set, that I know of at least, and I loved these covers. Especially the one for Across the Universe, the first time I saw it I thought "wth is that...?" Then I stared for a minute and noticed that it's actually Elder and Amy. And every time I see this cover, that's all I think of! It just sucked me in! And the space! Oh the space! Such beautiful colors. The purple and pink and the stars! GORGEOUS! On to A Million Suns, I loved this one once again for the colors, but they did change it to blue and pinkish beige, but it works wonderfully. And how awesome is it that it's Elder and Amy looking out of Godspeed into outer-space waiting to arrive?

The second set: I have not seen either of these covers in person, but have seen them on the internet. I think they're okay, might even say it's pretty, at least the first one is. I feel like after you've read the book, the cover has a lot to do with what's going on it the story. I can't say that for A Million Suns, I don't like that cover at all. It just doesn't make sense to me. It looks soap opera-ish to me...

Now... About the 'new' book covers. I'm just gonna jump ahead to the third and final book in the trilogy, Shades of Earth. I like the cover. It's a little plain, but with all that greenery, it mashes with the title pretty well and goes with what I'm expecting to see. And the font, it's edgy, and tech-y like, which fits very well with the fact that the ship has all this advanced technology and it being in the future and what not. What I think it really needs is some kind of something in the background. I'm not sure what, but something. As for the covers of the first two books, uh, no... That's about all I have to really say about that. They make no sense to me and they're plain and ugly. What I don't get is the sort of industrial wall/bolts thing at the bottom of them... Is that supposed to be the walls of Godspeed? And really showing you the fact that they're trapped on this spaceship?

So my questions for you are:
--Which covers do you like better?
--If you've read any of the books, do you think the cover fits the book?

Leave a comment and tell me your thoughts?

Have a good day!
