Book Review: Insurgent by Veronica Roth

Insurgent by Veronica Roth
Book #2 in Divergent Series

Synopsis:
One choice can transform you--or it can destroy you. But every choice has consequences, and as unrest surges in the factions all around her, Tris Prior must continue trying to save those she loves--and herself--while grappling with haunting questions of grief and forgiveness, identity and loyalty, politics and love.

Tris's initiation day should have been marked by celebration and victory with her chosen faction; instead, the day ended with unspeakable horrors. War now looms as conflict between the factions and their ideologies grows. And in times of war, sides must be chosen, secrets will emerge, and choices will become even more irrevocable--and even more powerful. Transformed by her own decisions but also by haunting grief and guilt, radical new discoveries, and shifting relationships, Tris must fully embrace her Divergence, even if she does not know what she may lose by doing so.

My Thoughts:
It had only been 6 months since I read Divergent. I remembered the majority of what happened and how much I loved it and all that jazz. But I didn't remember little things like not so main characters, names, who dies, and all that little stuff. And plus, I have a bad memory. Thank god for the post Veronica Roth did to remind us. What a nice author :) In case you don't remember, or missed the blog post, you can see it here.

Well Insurgent starts off right where Divergent ended. After the simulation attack and everything's crazy.

One thing that bugged me was that Tris kept putting herself in stupid situations. Ones that could get her killed, and it was making me really anxious and irritated. But I guess it wouldn't be her if she didn't do those things. That's the character we've come to know and love in Divergent.

So this is gonna be hard to explain, but maybe you felt like I did. I thought the majority of the book was slow, yes, a lot of stuff was happening. But it wasn't really revealing anything or going anywhere. It was just all this pity stuff. And then out of no where it was like "holy crap, we're getting somewhere!" And then everything started building up and getting crazy. It had a lot of depth as to the different stuff that was going on. But I don't think it was as action packed as Divergent.

And the ending.... Like WHAT!!!!......WHAT!! ARE YOU SERIOUS? I kinda thought it would be something along those lines, but just didn't expect it to actually be that way. I'm never right.

Book 3 will be crazy, it just has to. With how they left off, it has all the potential in the world. And I have faith in Veronica Roth to make it wonderful. A lot of people seemed to be disappointed with Insurgent. I wasn't. It wasn't amazing like Divergent, but it was really good. Divergent was more straight action, in your face stuff happening. This was more slowly building, and little things going on. A lot of character development. And you also get to see how Tris and Four's relationship grows.

Score! All in all I gave it four stars. I thought it was great. And like I just said I can't wait for book 3. It will be insane!

Have you read Insurgent?

Was it better or worse than Divergent?
