Movie Review: Seeking a Friend for the End of the World

"As an asteroid nears Earth, a man finds himself alone after his wife leaves in a panic. He decides to take a road trip to reunite with his high school sweetheart. Accompanying him is a neighbor who inadvertently puts a wrench in his plan."

While watching the previews for this movie, it looked like a good movie, but didn't really jump out at me. I wasn't really anxious and excited to watch it, but I'm glad I finally did. It was actually a really good movie.

Everything about this movie was cute. And funny, don't forget it's a comedy. I think I felt every emotion possible while watching this movie, I can't believe how attached to characters I got. Dodge was such a sweet guy, he was genuinely nice and he cared about Penny when he didn't really know her.

I was really surprised that he went to work after it was announced on the news that this asteroid was going to hit earth. I think that was one of the funniest parts. Him selling the "Apocalypse Package" or whatever it was. Bottom line is: I laughed, I cried, I was sad, happy, anxious, hopeful, mad, and annoyed at times. And it's everything I wanted to be. I most definitely recommend this movie. Personally, it's one of my favorite movies of 2012.

  1. Good review Angela. The premise is definitely used well, but is very uneven where it's really funny and obvious at times, then very sad and depressing at others. Oh well, I guess you can't make too many laughs with the idea of the apocalypse.

    1. Yes, the world is going to end, they can't be too happy. But it was a very fulfilling movie in a sense. I loved the way they were so happy to have had their last days together and die together.
